GMIC is launching a change campaign we can all join to encourage sustainability practices in the meeting and events industry. Ask For It! is a call to action for our industry to begin the very important conversation between a planner and supplier about sustainability and the ASTM/APEX standards.
In the busy world of planning, often we find ourselves overwhelmed with to-do’s. And while sustainability may be important, when we associate it with "another uphill battle”, it can get thrown off the radar. That's why GMIC created some easy to use tools for planner and suppliers to get the ball rolling.
: GMIC (in partnership with Twirl Management) has created RFP addendums for you to easily incorporated into traditional requests for proposals. Each addendum out lines the criteria needed for achieving APEX/ASTM level one compliance for each of the 9 sectors of the APEX/ASTM Sustainable Event Standard. Choose one or choose all! Any thing you do will make a positive difference in the impact of your event. PLANNERS, TAKE THE ASK FOR IT PLEDGE!
GMIC has endorsed iCompli as the APEX/ASTM third party organization to certify supply side vendors against the standard. This relationship was established to ensure credible marketplace adoption and usage of the standards. To help you figure out where your organization stacks up, conduct a gap analysis of your current practices using the iCompli Submission Form worksheet for your sector for APEX level 1 certification. If you choose to go once step further and get certified you'll know exactly where you stand and the areas you need to work on. Additionally you can use this information in response to the RFPs from planners asking about your sustainability practices and policies. SUPPLIERS, TAKE THE ASK FOR IT PLEDGE!
