Sustainable Event Standards Converge in Montreal
Driven by the global meetings industry, international governments and large scale event organizers, 2012 marks the release of three major sustainable event standards; APEX/ASTM, ISO 20121 and GRI EOSS. These standards provide the new global framework for defining, measuring and reporting the performance of a sustainable event.
In order to help meeting professionals test out new sustainability strategies and solve event challenges, the Green Meeting Industry Council expands its focus at its annual Sustainable Meetings Conference on the integrated application of these standards through innovation.
"There is growing evidence that event organizers who apply sustainable event solutions from an innovative mindset, and not merely a logistical one, are experiencing increased stakeholder satisfaction, comments GMIC Executive Director, Tamara Kennedy-Hill.
The Sustainable Meetings Conference was redesigned in 2011 as a learning laboratory using principles of game design to support maximum onsite engagement for senior level hospitality and meeting professionals.Several industry professionals share their perspectives on the value of attending the annual Sustainable Meeting Conference:
