Falling in Love with Standards: Our dynamic Valentine's Day panel will have you falling in love with standards. Sustainability Tip

No need to wait for the official release of the APEX/ASTM and ISO 20121 standards to get started. Both standards ask users to define their event sustainability policy, set clearly defined goals and objectives, and establish some form of internal and/or external audit process to ensure compliance.

Want to learn more? Check out the GMIC Resource Library for sample sustainability policies and other templates to help get you started.
Watch for the March 2012 release of the GMIC/TNS guide to sustainable events. This will be a free guide for GMIC members.

February 2012 GMIC NewsBrief
Do you ever have those "ah ha" moments when you realize that it doesn't always matter how much you know about sustainability but how willing you are to learn from others? Each event provides an unique set of variables, new stakeholders and innovative opportunities. The core process and metrics may not change, but the conversation is always evolving. Often, what keeps us inspired is hearing how someone made an amazing event experience possible through innovative sustainable solutions or simply by taking that first step.

The GMIC, strives to inspire leaders to make meetings BETTER through sustainable solutions. Think about sustainability from this context, how many people does our industry touch? Can we see the impact of an event as a ripple effect of positive legacy that can be told through collective storytelling, robust case studies and the data analysis? Being the cause for change is amazing. We want to hear your stories, case studies and "ah ha" moments in your journey towards sustainability.

P.S. Watch for for future editions highlighting GMIC's new educational certificate programs which will help you build the business case, engage with stakeholders, prepare for sustainable event standards (ISO20121, APEX/ASTM and GRI) and tell your story.
