Do you ever find yourself trying to figure out how to implement an authentic and meaningful community service project for your event? One that engages your community and has real, long-term impact? This webinar will present a new model for community service, and will look at how two leading organizations exemplify best practices.

The webinar and panel include:

Background Concepts: Mariela McIlwraith, President, Meeting Change
Mariela will introduce key concepts from Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Meetings and Events Industry, a book she co-wrote with Elizabeth Henderson that is set to be released this fall. Included will the the MAUDE Framework for community service, tools for selecting projects, and a discussion on meetings and events as conservers, creators and catalysts. She will also discuss best practices for extending the impact of your projects, and avoiding "Photo-Op CSR".

Supplier Focus: Kevin Kirby, Senior-Director, Worldwide Sales, Hard Rock International
Kevin will tell us more about how Hard Rock's signature series has helped to the tune of over $11,000,000, and other extraordinary ways pursue the vision of LOVE ALL - SERVE ALL, and the philanthropic causes that they support that are tied to their mottos: TAKE TIME TO BE KIND (Humanitarian), SAVE THE PLANET (Environmental) and ALL IS ONE® (Entertainment Industry).

Planner Focus: Amanda Ulbrich, Global Projects Specialist, Green Meeting Industry Council
Amanda will present information on how GMIC selects, develops and implements community service projects, including the Social Responsibility project at this year’s Sustainable Meetings Conference in Montreal and how that lead to greater community involvement and ONE DROP Membership and Chapter challenge campaign that is currently underway.
